Horseback Riding Lessons Irvine
Bridges Equestrian got it’s start in Irvine, with owner/founder Ruthanna Bridges teaching riding lessons in Irvine for the 4-H program there. Ruthanna’s well rounded background of English & Western styles of riding lent itself to the eclectic adventure that would become one of her fondest memories. She learned there that while she was very comfortable around horses, the steers made her quite nervous. “I don’t speak cow, apparently.” While she finds them cute, they just don’t react like a horse does! “I think they know I find them tasty,” she remarked.
The Irvine Horse Project was having trouble getting an instructor, and one of it’s advisors knew Ruthanna from another world… Ice Skating, to be exact! But that’s another story…
So, the friend asked if Ruthanna would consider coming down to work with the 4H students. Ruthanna gladly accepted, missing horses after leaving the industry for 3 years. The rest is history. From there Ruthanna went on to found one of the largest Riding Academies in Southern California, and her son Devon Bridges to go on to develop a large Hunter/Jumper Show barn in San Juan Capistrano with his wife Kendra Bridges.
Now Bridges Equestrian offers riding lessons and camps to all of Orange county, with students from Aliso Viejo, Capistrano Valley, Irvine, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Beach, Lake Forest,Mission Viejo, Nellie Gail, Newport Beach, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, Talega and as far away as Long Beach and Fallbrook!
